From a yelp review of a car rental place on Kauai: “Seriously, people, it’s an ISLAND. Nobody needs to go anywhere so dang quickly that you need a MUSTANG.”

renting a convertible mustang in Hawaii is pretty much state law

They are all V6's anyway.

Or a Jeep

yep, I rented a Mustang on Maui and a Jeep on Kauai! I wish we had upgraded to a Camaro SS instead but we were told we needed a Jeep. (We did not need a Jeep.)

You can't drive the Jeep anywhere Jeepy without violating the rental rules anyway. I've done the convertible Mustang thing, so I'm trying to line up a Miata for the trip. Automatic unfortunately, but Miata!

I think that person just wanted to type... maybe verify their own existence by seeing something they wrote on Yelp? Next time they should rent a bike, maybe the fresh air will help.

the jeep we got was a huge disappointment. They stuck us with a lumbering 4-door unlimited and one of the roof bars was bent. Everytime we folded the roof back up it would stop short about 2 inches from the latches. We couldn't really leave the doors in the resort parking lot. I would have taken an auto Miata over it too!

That applies to most Yelp reviews, I think. I like the idea that someone would NEED a V-6 convertible Mustang for anything. "I have to get to the beach in 20 minutes, and this rental Impala is not going to cut it!"

Yes, that does apply to most Yelp reviews and I agree with your assessment.

Leave the doors in the hotel room.

I suppose I could have grabbed one of the bellboy's luggage carts and wheeled then up there lol
Oh well, maybe next time

The highest speed limit in Hawaii is 45mph.

They are wrong. I am so sorry to inform them of this sad fact.
I go to Hawaii at least once a year. I have rented a Camaro SS and I assure you one can go plenty fast, particularly on Oahu and Maui. Kauai has areas where you can get some speed (heading towards Barking Sands) but it is a slower island with a maximum speed of 50 MPH and cops known for setting up ridiculous speed traps.
"Hawaii traffic laws define the maximum speed that any motorist traveling on Hawaii roadways can legally drive. Driving over the Hawaii speed limit can result in a traffic citation, fine, license suspension, or even arrest.
Hawaii was the last state to raise speed limits after the national minimum of 55 mph was repealed, and only allows speed limits of 60 mph along some stretches of Interstates H-1 and H-3. Most other freeways kept their old speed limits of 55 mph.
Hawaii has a relatively low maximum speed limit. There are a total of 50 states that have higher maximum speed limits than the Hawaii top speed of 60 miles per hour."

I realize people can't actually stick their head up their ass. But this guy sure made the effort.

More like: "Seriously people, it's a Hawaiian ISLAND. Nobody wants to get their stuff stolen so badly that they should rent a MUSTANG."
